Iraq- The Desert of Death for American Youth

» August 18, 2005, 1:51 pm
1075 US Troops who have died in Iraq were 25 years old or younger.

337 US Troops who have died in Iraq were 20 years old or younger.

Staggering statistics

Upsetting statistics. Kids dying for Dubya`s lies. Kids dying for Cheney`s lies. Kids dying for Rumsfeld`s lies.

25 years old or younger, their whole life ahead of them, their dreams, their aspirations, their hopes, snuffed out as a result of fighting Dubya`s war, built on lies and deception.God this makes me angry. This illegal war, this unnecessary war, this immoral war, fought by men and women barely old enough to drink at the behest of a lying coward called George W Bush. Make no mistake, this war is built on lies. For anyone who has any doubts, please visit The Big Lie on What Really Happened.

As I trawled the list of US military deaths last night, and the sheer horror of seeing so many US kids dead, kids whose bravery and commitment shames the howling bloodthirsty chickenhawk traitors who support Dubya`s war, it dawned on me, that the young pay the price of the old`s decisions. The young fight and die for the older generations lust for power. The young pay with their lives to defend their country, whilst people like George Bush, who ran away from military service and his duty to his countrymen who were dying in Vietnam, and hid, like the snivelling coward that he is, protected by his father wealth and influence.

How long is this going to be allowed to continue? How long before Bush, Rumsfeld, Cheney, Rice, Blair and the neocon war mongerers are going to be brought to justice? How long is America going to sacrifice its youth for these evil people? Driven by sites such as WRH, Rense, Common Dreams and Truth Out, Cindy Sheehan is finally getting to speak out. This courageous woman, who too has lost a son in Dubya`s illegal war, Casey Sheehan, who was 24 years old.Cindy Sheehan needs to be supported and the online community is standing up and being counted.

As I looked through the list of US deaths, I saw places that I had djed at around the USA. Did I know any of these kids, not necessarily personally, but had they danced to my music, perhaps came up to me at the end of the night to thank me and shook my hand. What are they doing dying in thedesert of death in Iraq for a coward`s lies?

I cannot hold my silence any longer, I cannot see more kids die for Dubya`s lies and know that I did not speak out. I look around and see musicians and djs keeping quiet, tacitly approving of Dubya`s war in their silence. Yesterday was the anniversary of the final day of Woodstock, and as I look back at the artists who stood up and spoke out in 1969 and compare to today it disgust me. Where are the Hendrixes, The Doors and the Bob Dylans of 2005? I listen for protest and all I hear is silence.

Yesterday, we launched We Will Not Be Silenced , and if you haven`t visited it, please take the time to go there and sign the message board. We cannot sit back any longer and allow the youth of America to die in Dubya`s illegal war without speaking out. Cindy Sheehan shames everyone who is silent. Cindy Sheehan exposes the hypocrisy of a music industry that refuses to protest for fear of losing corporate dollars. We need to speak out and say Enough is Enough, no more murder of American youth in our name, no more murder of innocent Iraqis in our name. Not one more death for a lying coward called George W Bush.

We will not be silenced any longer.

Peace
